GMO letter to local grocers

Here is a letter I am leaving with the management of every grocery store I shop. Feel free to use it, or change it to fit your needs, just hold these grocers accountable for knowing what they are selling, and put them on notice that you will boycott any company that does not support total transparency of our food system.

Dear Local Grocer,

I, in good conscience, can no longer purchase the following products or any products I find to have been manufactured or distributed by the corporations listed below. I have chosen to do this for their lack of concern of GMOs in our food and their donations to defeat common sense GMO labeling laws. The final word on GMO safety in our food system hasn't been spoken yet, and until such time, I, as a consumer, want to know which foods contain GMOs. Hawai’i will soon decide on GMO labeling laws, for it is an idea whose time has come. Really, by law I get to know how much salt is in my foods, but not GMOs. Take a stand, and help us local shoppers know what’s in our food. As a local food supplier, until such time that GMO labeling laws are in place, I believe it is your responsibility to be able to answer questions consumers have about GMOS and which foods contain them. Thank you for your consideration.
